ONE MINUTE LOS ANGELES (2011 – In progress)

One Minute Los Angeles is a collaborative project combining field recording and photography. Artist Lara Bank and sound artist Clay Chaplin have been trekking throughout Los Angeles documenting one minute of time in everyday environments. The idea is to capture one minute of sound framed by two photographic time stamps: one at the start of the minute and one at the end. What happens in between is heard in the recording and only framed by the photographs. The result blurs the relationship between the immediate future and the immediate past.

One Minute Los Angeles premiered at the Raflost media festival in Reykjavik, Iceland on May 5th-8th, 2011.

One Minute Los Angeles will have a week long stay in the CalArts ESP WaveCave sound gallery from September 8th thru September 14th.

One Minute Los Angeles will be presented at the first annual Studio 300 Digital Art and Music Festival from September 16th thru September 18th.
